In this topic you'll learn the main window of the Gallery Builder program
and its various parts. The functionality of the A4Desk Flash Photo Gallery
Builder is covered under other subsequent topics.
The opening main window of the Gallery Builder program looks as shown
below.
The Menu bar
The Menu bar and its menus is where you can access and perform most
of the functions of the A4Desk Flash Photo Gallery Builder. Position the
mouse over a menu item and its associated menu drops down revealing the
options as shown below for the File
menu.
You can also invoke the menus using the Alt
key of your keyboard plus the first letter of a menu. For example to invoke
the File menu press Alt
on your keyboard and holding it down press F.
And subsequently after a menu is open you can access any of the functions
or menu options of that menu by pressing the underlined letter of the
menu item. For instance if the File
menu is open you can invoke the New
function by pressing N on your
keyboard as N is the underlined
letter of the function New in
the menu.
Inside a menu you can select an option by either clicking it with the
mouse or using speedkey combinations indicated beside a menu option. For
instance to open a New project press the Control
(Ctrl) key and holding it down
press N on your keyboard. Note
that to use a speedkey you need not open a menu.
The Toolbar
Several important functions of the menu bar are displayed using the
same icons as in the menus conveniently below the menu bar on a Toolbar.
To find out what these buttons stand for simply hold your mouse pointer
on any of them and a tool tip will indicate their function.
The Toolbar is composed of individual smaller toolbars grouped according
to similarity of functions. These toolbars can be detached and docked
as shown below.
To detach and dock a toolbar simply drag it off the main Toolbar by
grabbing and holding its holder using the mouse.
The Panes
There are two distinct panes. They are:
The Left Pane
This pane displays the album structure of the photo gallery.
The Right Pane
This pane displays the preview of the Album. Note that in this case
details of the album is displayed as the album (My
Photo Album)was selected in the Left
pane. If a Gallery is selected on the Left
pane its details are displayed on the Right
pane and if a photo is selected in the Left
pane its details are displayed in the Right
pane.

panes for the album structure and preview respectively, will be dealt
in more detail under the topic Creating
a New Album.
The Shortcut menu
Gallery Builder offers another convenient menu from where several functions
can be executed. This is via the Shortcut menu. The Shortcut menu is activated
by right clicking inside the Left
or Right pane.
 Note:
Right clicking in the fields such as Album
Name, Album Preview and
Gallery Name will not display
this shortcut menu.
